How to pair two fonts without overthinking it

Pick a body font first
Choose for readability at 16px. Inter, IBM Plex Sans and Söhne are safe bets.

Then a display font with contrast
Pair a sans body with a serif display (Fraunces, Instrument Serif), or a serif body with a clean sans display.

Stick to 2 weights per font
More weights = visual chaos. Regular + semibold is usually enough.

Check licensing
Google Fonts = free. Foundry fonts often need a separate web license.
