Decide: downgrade or cancel?
Downgrading keeps the site live on a cheaper plan; cancelling unpublishes it after the billing cycle.

Downgrade path
Billing & Account → Billing → Change Plan. Some features (commerce, custom code) disappear on lower tiers.

Cancel path
Same Billing menu → Cancel Subscription. Export first (see backup tutorial).
- 04
Move your domain out
If the domain was registered through Squarespace, transfer it to a registrar like Cloudflare or Namecheap before cancelling.
